Novant Health Pulmonary and Critical Care offers bronchoscopic interventional therapy to treat pulmonary abnormalities. Our new interventional bronchoscopy capabilities plave Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in a very small group of hospitals that offer these leading-edge techniques. We are pleased to offer a full range of interventional care options to patients of the Piedmont Region.
Interventional bronchoscopy is used for tissue removal, balloon dilation to increase airway diameter and stent placement to maintain airway for treating lesions. With less bleeding and airway obstruction, the procedure offers lung cancer patients a higher quality of life when other options have failed. We work closely with Novant Health Cancer Center in a team approach to these procedures.
Current therapies include:
- Navigation Bronchoscopy
- Stent Placement
- Bronchial Thermoplasty
- Radial Ultrasound directed transbronchial biopsy
- Ultrasound directed transbronchial needle biopsy
We are involved with: The International Early Lung Cancer Action Program in conjunction with the Cancer Center-this is a research study we would like to have on the website. I will fax over the information-I am not sure where to add this-all sites participate in this initiative.
